Candis Grace delivered another unforgettable evening last Thursday as she marked the 10th anniversary of “A Toast to Black Hollywood” in Los Angeles, celebrating the accomplishments of Black creatives and leaders across industries. The event served as a vibrant gathering space where Black innovators and philanthropists were recognized and uplifted for their impact.
Kicking off BET weekend in style, the black carpet shimmered with star power. Gail Bean turned heads in a white tweed blazer set, creme pointed-toe boots, and gold accents, while Malcolm Mays channeled retro flair in a navy 70s-style suit and Prada wingtip platform espadrilles. Meagan Good radiated elegance in a sparkling black gown with a thigh-high slit and glossy sandals, and Kamie Crawford stunned in a sleek black ensemble by NBD.
At the black-tie cocktail mixer, honoree Tristan Mack Wilds kept it cool in a ‘Mark of Maturity’ jacket, Wrangler pants, and Prada loafers. Bryon Javar, celebrity stylist and creative director, made a bold statement in a red monochrome look topped with a dramatic hat inspired by June Ambrose. Candis Grace, the evening’s visionary, dazzled in a nude Fatima crystal corset maxi dress from Miss Circle.
The celebration spotlighted a host of honorees: Meagan Good, Tristan Mack Wilds, Affion Crockett, Kamie Crawford, Bryon Javar, Malcolm Mays, Kareem Grimes, Melissa Van Patten-Henderson, Guerdy Abraira, Laurieann Gibson, and Scott Evans.
Candis Grace spoke of her mission to create a space for shared recognition and joy. Meagan Good paid tribute to her mother, dedicating her award to the woman who shaped her journey. The night also featured a soul-stirring performance by singer MAJOR, whose vocals left a lasting impression.
Candis Grace’s “A Toast to Black Hollywood” set the perfect tone for the 2024 BET Awards, capturing the spirit of celebration and cultural pride.
