Step into the spotlight with our 2023 Faby’s Best of the Year, where we proudly unveil the nominees for Model of the Year! These standout figures have captivated us with their fashion sense, cultural impact, and unforgettable runway moments. Meet the contenders for this year’s coveted title:

Winnie Harlow
Hailing from Canada with Jamaican roots, Winnie Harlow is a fashion trailblazer known for her bold style and barrier-breaking presence. She first rose to fame on “America’s Next Top Model” and has since become a global icon. In 2023, she collaborated with Puma, Coca Cola, Victoria’s Secret, and SmartWater, graced the pages of Elle Canada, Vogue Netherlands, and Fashion Canada, and launched her skincare brand, Cay Skin—proving she’s a powerhouse beyond the catwalk.

Naomi Campbell
A true fashion legend, British supermodel Naomi Campbell began her career at just 15 and quickly became a global sensation. She’s worked with every major designer, appeared on countless magazine covers, and made history as the first Black model on the covers of TIME and French Vogue. Beyond modeling, Naomi is a dedicated philanthropist and was honored by Nelson Mandela as his ‘Honorary Granddaughter’ for her activism.

Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner has become a defining face of modern fashion since her breakout moment in 2014 with Marc Jacobs. She’s walked for elite designers like Chanel, Balmain, and Fendi, and appeared in top publications including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Off the runway, Kendall is a savvy entrepreneur with her 818 Tequila brand and a Forbes-featured teeth whitening pen, while also supporting causes like Charity: Water.

Precious Lee
A fierce advocate for inclusivity, Precious Lee made history as the first African American curvy model in Vogue in 2015. She’s since walked for fashion giants like Marc Jacobs and Versace, and graced covers such as Harper’s Bazaar and British Vogue. Represented by IMG Models, Precious continues to break boundaries and inspire with her powerful presence and advocacy for size and race diversity.

Adut Akech
Born in South Sudan and raised in Australia, Adut Akech has become a fashion force since her 2016 debut. She’s modeled for top houses like Valentino, Givenchy, and Chanel, and is celebrated for her striking beauty and commitment to diversity. Mentored by Naomi Campbell, Adut uses her platform to speak on the challenges faced by dark-skinned models and to advocate for refugees worldwide.

Anok Yai
Anok Yai’s modeling journey began with a viral photo at Howard University, leading her to become the second Black model to open a Prada show after Naomi Campbell. Since then, she’s walked for Mugler, Hermès, and Valentino, and is known for embracing her natural hair and heritage. Anok is a vocal supporter of diversity and inclusion in the fashion world.

Eva Apio
British-Ugandan model Eva Apio rose to fame through her modeling work and strong social media presence. After moving to the UK at age 10, she modeled for brands like H&M and Daily Paper. Beyond fashion, Eva founded the Apio Foundation to support children in Uganda, launched her own clothing line, and even DJs—showcasing her multifaceted talent.

Alton Mason
Alton Mason is redefining male modeling with his dynamic presence. From Arizona, he made history as the first Black male model to walk for Chanel in 2018. With a background in dance and acting, Alton has worked with Gucci and Off-White, amassed a million Instagram followers, and appeared in the film “Elvis,” proving he’s a star on and off the runway.

Ashley Graham
Ashley Graham, a Nebraska native, is a champion of body positivity and inclusivity. She gained fame with her groundbreaking Sports Illustrated cover in 2016 and became the first plus-size model on American Vogue. Represented by IMG Models, Ashley has modeled for major brands like Michael Kors, launched her own lingerie and swimwear lines, and continues to advocate for body diversity in fashion.
