Italian-born photographer and filmmaker Francesco Carrozzini always envisioned Los Angeles as his future home. In 2017, he discovered his dream residence—a Hollywood Regency gem with a storied design legacy, originally crafted and later reimagined by the iconic architect John Elgin Woolf. The home’s elegance resonated deeply with Carrozzini, whose late mother, Franca Sozzani, left a lasting mark on fashion as the editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia.
Carrozzini revealed to Architectural Digest that he purchased the property from hotelier Sean MacPherson shortly before marrying Bee Shaffer. The couple welcomed their son, Oliver, in October. With great care, Carrozzini restored the home’s parquet floors and white-painted wooden ceilings, transforming the living room into a warm retreat with intimate library corners and custom-built bookcases.
Reflecting their deep roots in fashion and photography, the home is adorned with original pieces by celebrated artists such as Mario Testino, Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Robert Capa, Thomas Struth, and Man Ray. Carrozzini even dedicated an entire month to selecting the ideal shade of white paint. His focus remained on honoring the home’s original architecture, making each decision with precision and respect. Today, the residence proudly holds the distinction of being an official Los Angeles landmark.
