With September on the horizon, Architectural Digest unveils its much-anticipated annual Style issue, spotlighting Instagram icon Eva Chen. In this edition, Eva opens the doors to her newly renovated country home in Connecticut, offering a personal glimpse into the transformation journey.
Though a longtime city enthusiast, Eva and her husband, advertising creative director Tom Bannister, embraced a more tranquil weekend lifestyle after discovering their dream getaway in the summer of 2020. Throughout the renovation, Eva kept her 1.7 million Instagram followers updated with behind-the-scenes moments.
The couple connected with design firm Hendricks Churchill via Instagram DMs, collaborating with Heide Hendricks and Rafe Churchill to reimagine the 2,800-square-foot space. Major changes included knocking down walls, turning a garage into a bedroom, and refreshing the windows.
The result is a refined yet inviting home that balances elegance with comfort. As a children’s book author and mother, Eva prioritized family-friendly spaces, with Hendricks and Churchill crafting cozy corners and play zones for her kids, Ren and Tao. The family recently grew with the arrival of baby River.
Furnishings were sourced from a mix of high-end and vintage suppliers, including Plain English, ABC Carpet & Home, Apparatus, and unique finds from estate sales, Etsy, and 1stDibs.
